Tom Waits turned heads on April 1, 1999, when he showed up for a VH1 Storytellers session set in the unlikely - and cinematic - surroundings of Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport. Not a public concert but a TV studio session staged in Terminal form, Waits delivered stripped-back versions of classics like 'Tango Till They're Sore', 'Strange Weather', 'Chocolate Jesus' and 'Downtown Train', interwoven with Waits' trademark between-song ramblings and cryptic storytelling. The show aired later that spring, although VH1 edited several songs and banter for broadcast, fans quickly circulated bootleg full-session recordings; then finally came At The Terminal, an unofficial but beloved release widely shared among fans, which finally hears officialisation through The Vinyl Champ in full-on gatefold form.
