In February 1975, Led Zeppelin released Physical Graffiti, a sprawling double album that showcased the band at the peak of their creative powers. Its success was immediate, propelled by a rich mix of hard-hitting rock, intricate acoustic passages and genre-defying experimentation. Tracks such as "Kashmir", "Trampled Under Foot" and "In My Time of Dying" demonstrated their virtuosity, while the album’s layered production and sheer scale captured the imagination of fans worldwide, cementing its place as one of the defining albums of the decade.

To support Physical Graffiti, Led Zeppelin embarked on a 37-date North American tour, divided into two legs. Performances ran from 18 January through 27 March 1975, preceded by two European warm-up shows in Rotterdam and Brussels. The tour was characterised by extended improvisations, fiery renditions of fan favourites and the kind of electrifying stage presence that only Led Zeppelin could deliver, further solidifying their status as the ultimate live act of the era.

On 10 March 1975, Led Zeppelin took the stage at the San Diego Sports Arena for a show that would go down as the finest of the tour. Lasting nearly three hours, it was a breathtaking display of technical mastery and sheer spectacle.
