Dire Straits, formed in London in 1977 by Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, John Illsley and Pick Withers, forged a sound built on jazz, folk, country and the blues rock of JJ Cale and Eric Clapton. Their style broke from punk's urgency, drawing on roots rock shaped by pub rock scenes.

 Active mainly between 1977 and 1988, with a brief reunion from 1991 to 1995, they left a mark with clean, guitar-driven tunes and storytelling. This double CD set captures various performances recorded in Australia, joining the Cult Legends series and offering a vivid snapshot of their best live work.
