Eddie Vedder - Into The Wild (Music From The Motion Picture) [LP] (180 Gram Vinyl with 24-page booklet, Import)
180 Gram Vinyl! Solo Soundtrack by Lead Singer of Pearl Jam! Includes 28-Page Booklet!!
'Into The Wild' is the first solo album by Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder based on his contributions to the soundtrack for the film Into The Wild. Director Sean Penn hand-picked Vedder to provide the music for his film. Previously, Vedder had contributed two songs to the soundtrack for the 1995 film Dead Man Walking and a cover of The Beatles' "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" to the soundtrack for the 2001 film, I Am Sam, both of which starred Penn.
This film is about an honor student and athlete who walks away from his life and turns his back on society to a life of starvation in the Alaska wilderness. The music for this soundtrack has been described as a "collection of folksy, rootsy tunes where rock & roll makes fleeting appearances" by Thom Jurek of Allmusic. Jurek goes on to say "It's a true solo project in that he (Vedder) played virtually everything on the set, and had help in only two places, backing vocals by Corin Tucker on 'Hard Sun'... and a little extra acoustic guitar assistance and backing vocals from Jerry Hannan on 'Society', a tune Hannan authored. That said, these songs stretch Vedder to the breaking point as a writer."
The original pressing was released in 2007 in a very, very limited circulation, making it very much wanted among Pearl Jam fans. Music On Vinyl offers these fans the opportunity to obtain this album. It will be released in a beautiful gatefold sleeve with artwork by Anton Corbijn and an additional 28 page booklet with lyrics, and exclusive liner notes by director Sean Penn.
